Just a couple of kilometres away is a local bread shop and garage which sells newspapers etc.

The Gironde is a wonderful area to explore and its close proximity to the Dordogne and the Lot et Garonne gives guests the opportunity of exploring further afield. Ste Foy La Grande is the local bastide town approx. 9 kms from La Demeure de Caplong where one can buy all life’s essentials. Ste Foy also boasts the largest fruit, veg and flower market in SW France on a Saturday morning. Just a half-hour’s drive away is Bergerac, a delightful medieval town with good restaurants, interesting shops and quaint alleyways to explore. St. Emilion, a name synonymous with fine wines is no more than a 40 minute drive and is well worth a days outing.

It would take too long to list all the other places that deserve a mention , but in the house we provide an information folder for guests to peruse at leisure and we are of course, happy to advise on  places to go ,restaurants and  vineyards to visit . Zoë and Bruce, the owners live just a short distance away.

The beautiful countryside is perfect for walking and cycling. There is an abundance of wildlife and ornithologists will not be disappointed. There is also an excellent golf course at nearby Chateau Vigiers.
